Friday's April Showers

Friday we had thunderstorms rolling through Middle Tennessee. The rain came down fast with the accompanying winds. This storm cleated tornadoes that tore apart homes one county south of us. Here are some pictures I took of the storm coming.

The rain fell very quickly. Our rain gauge measured at least half an inch of rain in 15 to 20 minutes.

The winds rattled our Bradford pear in the front yard. It made it through this storm unscathed.

The empty bird feeder swung back and forth like a pendulum.

The back of our neighbor's yard floods in rain. A drainage culvert aims toward the back of the property line and causes this temporary flooding. It drains out very fast since we are actually on a flat part of a hill.

After the rain the sun came out and reflected its light off the glistening deck.

You know the saying "April showers..."

  1. I love a good rain to cleanse everything. And it smells wonderful.

  2. A good spring rain rids the air of pollen. I am always looking for the bright side! But you had a little gully washer there. Glad your family were all safe and secure through it... Good pictures!

  3. I have a fondness for clouds and you captured them beautifully...we just don't have gentle rains!

  4. Glad your Bradford Pear came thru unscathed. It looks like the drainage area is a long way from your house-that is good!
