Cucumbers and Mutant Squash

This morning I while out in the garden I found a couple cucumbers ready to be picked,

and mutant squash!

Apparently we had a Siamese squash growing on the vine. Each side of this vegetable anomaly appears like it could have been it’s own fruit.

They are almost exactly the same length and size but completely connected on one side.

Here is the blossom end of the squash. Tonight we will have the Siamese twin separation surgery, I hope all goes well…or rather tastes good!

We also had this giant squash on the vine. Before we left for the weekend I check for any that needed picked. Either I missed one or it just grew really fast. It’s almost 9 inches long. I like to pick them between 4 to 6 inches.

Can you guess what we’re having for dinner?

  1. Fried Squash!!!! We had fresh squash tonight for supper. No not from my garden. A neighbor brought it over. Still have plenty in fridge as it is only myself & Young’un. It sure was good. Fresh bush beans/new potatoes. These were from my garden. Sooooo good when it is fresh. I also think it’s better health wise for you. I don’t use any chemicals. Guess that is why my squash aren’t doing anything. 3 different kind at that. Go figure.

  2. I’m guessing squash was on the menu! I hope it tasted well and both patients were up to the taste of tasting delicious.

Hard to believe that the cucumbers here have just started to grow and you are harvesting them. How I wish!

  3. I love squash in any form. It is hands down my favorite veggie,,,even above tomatoes and green onions. We are having a stir fry tomorrow with a little bit of all the leftovers in the garden. I waste nothing. It is used in a soup or a stir fry.

  4. The surgery went well. I am happy to announce that the Siamese twins were very tasty when steamed! Little slices of 8’s became a great meal. The cucumbers in the salad weren’t bad either. 😉
