Growing The Home Garden

The time has come! I finally purchased my own domain name this week and got everything all set up. Hopefully since I’m still using Blogger and everything is still hosted there everything should function as normal. If there are any issues please let me know but you should be able to use all the old links that you may have made in your blog roll. In the future you can point any links to the new domain.

www.GrowingTheHomeGarden.com wasn’t my first choice but it was the closest I could come to the name of this blog that I’ve used since October of 2007. Unfortunately I missed out on the name I was targeting and another blog now has it. Sometimes things just don’t work out the way you want them to.

Truthfully the domain name of this site is Growing on me, if you’ll forgive the pun. After all it is what this site was started to document my adventures in setting up our home garden. It’s come a long way since we bought the house in February of 2007 and its still growing. That’s the fun thing about gardening, don’t you think? It never stops changing, evolving, or growing.

And we still have a long way to grow!

  2. That's wonderful! I love your before and after pictures, it shows what an impassioned and wonderful gardener you are. I can only dream to be like you one day 🙂 The only thing I can say is that I hope with your new domain name you will get rid of the abbreviated feed. I'm currently working 50 hours a week and want so badly to catch up on my favorite blogs when I have time but I've found myself needing to unsubscribe to any that have the abbreviated feeds (purely for lack of time). You are one of my last feeds I subscribe to that abbreviated and due to my time constraints I'll have to stop following you soon. Please please please change your mind about your feed!!! It would be so awesome to keep up with you. If not, best of luck with everything! Hope you have a wonderful harvest this summer/fall. 🙂

  11. I like the new domain name: it reflects well what you are doing in your own home. Not only are you a great gardener but you also have an eye for a great house, location and potential. Not only that, it seems you are a great designer too. Love reading your blog…I get so much info and enjoyment from it. I am a newbie with loads of restrictions to what I can do with my place but you inspire. Thanks

    You're comment about the feed is the first one I've heard but I have often wondered which is better the full or part feed. One of the things I was afraid of with the full feed is other sites taking content without permission via feed and getting access to the whole article. I'm giving the full feed a try though and we'll see how it goes. I think they should be activated now so let me know if it is still sending the partial feed.

    Despite the accomplishments it always feels like there is more to do. Sometimes I might be trying to fit in 3 years of work into one year.

    It is pretty gratifying to see the hard work starting to to come together. It seems that finally in the 3rd growing season many of the perennials have finally matured.

    The domain thing isn't that hard but the instructions aren't the clearest things in the world! I think the header problem is that the picture might be too tall for it's width. If you resize it or crop it it might change to what you need for the header to fit. What template are you using?

    I really appreciate the complement! I just really enjoy gardening and put quite a bit of effort into it. What kind of restrictions do they give you in your community?

  14. Before & After photos are so great to make you feel like you've accomplished something. So often we don't take the before photos and then we feel like we never get anything done and things never lood different.

    I wish I had take some before photos of our garden when we first arrived. I know they're much much different, but it's hard to tell sometimes.
